Our primary focus in developing recommendations for companion birds is quality of life and sustainable health. Over the last two decades it has become very obvious that the food choices you make for your bird will have both immediate and long term impact. Many feeding practices, like the seed based diet, are still common although they have been shown time and time again to result in serious nutritional deficiencies and predictable degenerative diseases.
Our recommendation to feed Harrison's Bird Foods are based on many years of happy, healthy birds. We wholeheartedly endorse the feeding of this organic formulated diet for most species of companion birds. We also encourage the daily feeding of vegetables, fruit and some nuts. We find that when Harrison's Bird Foods account for most of the calories ingested, companion birds typically have beautiful plumage and healthy immune systems.
Proper nutrition for companion birds is our focus. Making a profit is not. Our prices for bird food and the handling and shipping charges are - in most cases - at or below the prices our suppliers and shippers charge. The current economic times have forced us to fall more in line with those prices - thus you'll notice increases in the price of some food items.

Because there is such a wide range of species and ages of birds that share their lives with families, Harrison's Bird Foods offers a variety of products. Birds converting to Harrison's from a seed diet, recovering from illness or under 6 - 8 months of age should start out and remain on the High Potency formulas for a period of at least six months. Many birds including African Greys, Macaws and others do better on the High Potency formulas year round. |
